For mother of five, Déa Viola, reaching for a towel while guaranteeing her children's safety wasn't always easy. So she took matters into her own hands by developing The Mama Taco Towel™ along with the lettuce leaf and the tomato wedge bath accessories, a hands-free towel that adds both fun and safety to bath time.

I have five children and have always found it difficult to either reach for a towel during bath time or hold one without dropping it while attending to my babies. Having my hands free was essential to having a safe bath time experience. Twenty-three years ago, with my two older children I used to tuck the corner of a plain towel under the neckline of my shirt, and that gave me the idea to create The Mama Taco Towel™ and Lettuce Wash Your Fingers and Tomatoes Washcloth and Sponge Set™, where your love and your baby make the most wonderful filling. I have used my design on all three of my younger children, all with different body sizes and shapes, and found it extremely helpful at every age. Also, I wanted to make it fun, cozy and cute, so I used a very soft fabric that was easy to care for, and offered a food theme.
The Mama Taco Towel™ has been successful, particularly with local baby showers.

Has your design been successful and what are your plans for the future?

Our company, The Baby Flamingo Co., has been taking orders online and by phone, and The Mama Taco Towel™ has been successful, particularly with all of the local baby showers where we go all out with the color coordinated and personalized gift wrapping theme options, but has remained relatively small in scale — selling mostly to family and friends. We are looking to expand over the next several years by increasing our inventory to meet demand, adding our four new products to our line, and improving our advertising to reach a wider market. The Baby Flamingo Co.'s plans for the future also includes a "Pet Division."
